Want to know more about this fabric?

Recycling is vital for promoting circularity and reducing waste in the fashion industry, occurring at various levels: post-industrial, pre-consumer, or post-consumer.

Premium post-consumer recycled denim

The PCR (Post-Consumer Recycled) program, in partnership with Humana People to People Italia and Filatura Astro, collects and recycles used jeans to create new denim fabrics. The program aims to achieve circularity by turning garment waste into new fabrics using post-consumer recycled fibers in combination with regenerative and organic cotton. While recycled fibers are not as strong as new materials, our proprietary Blue Seed cotton compensates for their weakness, allowing us to use a higher percentage of recycled fibers in our fabrics. The program operates within a 60 km radius, ensuring a small carbon footprint, and offers traceability at every step.

How to scale recycled denim

The PCR program is a virtuous example of recycled denim production, but scalability is limited. To scale the production industrially and achieve a significant positive impact on the denim industry, we partnered with recycling expert Sharabati Denim. The new recycled denim collection includes five fabrics with various levels of recycled cotton. The collection features authentic looks, salt and pepper effects, and medium-dark indigo shades with a red cast. Unique finishing techniques include foaming applications to play with color saturation and offer time-sensitive aesthetics. Additionally, the sizing compound used on all fabrics is vegetable-based, making it biodegradable and non-toxic. The use of our Indigo Juice® dyeing technology allows us to lower further the impact of this family of fabrics.

Fabric look

This family includes a range of medium-weight fabrics, all featuring a 3x1 weave with right-hand twill. However, their constructions vary from dense to loose, and their appearance ranges from clean and sophisticated to a rustic, vintage look. The post-consumer recycled cotton's content is particularly high (21-26%) thanks to the use of our exclusive Blue Seed Cotton, which compensates the weakness of the recycled fibres.
