Nestled in a quaint Italian town on the outskirts of Milan, Candiani began crafting denim fabric in 1938 amidst the splendor of what would become Italy’s first nature reserve. With more than 80 years of experience, we have established ourselves as one of the most renowned denim manufacturers in the world, becoming a key supplier of most premium denim and luxury brands.
With innovation at Candiani’s core, we set out to revolutionize the denim industry with one of our most important developments to date. COREVA™ stretch technology pioneers the world’s first stretch denim made from 100% plant-based yarns. This innovation allows for the fabric to disintegrate and be transformed into compost at the end of life, offering an alternative to the typical take-make-waste approach. Alongside environmental benefits, COREVA™ denim offers a distinctive natural comfort without compromising elasticity, recovery, durability, and the aesthetics that Candiani’s fabrics are famous for.
In 2023, Candiani partnered with the innovative farming project Quintosapore to explore the intersection of industrial production and fashion with regenerative agriculture and food. For the first time ever, we used stretch denim offcuts, remnants from the denim recycling process that would otherwise be wasted, in the soil to grow tomatoes to produce a delicious sauce! Tests conducted by Ars Chimica Laboratorio Chimico showed that COREVA™ caused no adverse effects on soil health, chemical composition, or microorganisms.
