Our dear friends BENZAK are celebrating their 10th anniversary this month! To honor this important milestone, we developed with them a special 15 oz. denim fabric they used to manufacture a highly limited run of men’s jeans equipped with various golden accents.
BENZAK uses Italian and Japanese denim fabric
BENZAK started as a small capsule collection of only six pieces and was launched in 2013 through crowdfunding. Ten years later, it is a well-established brand appreciated by many raw denim enthusiasts all over the world. BENZAK’s garments are made with Italian and Japanese denim fabrics representing the tradition of the industry.
We created a unique selvedge denim fabric for BENZAK’s anniversary
Candiani Denim is one of BENZAK’s major suppliers. To celebrate the 10th birthday of the brand, we were challenged by BENZAK to create a unique denim fabric with a vintage, textured appearance. The result turned out to be a 100% cotton 15 oz. selvedge denim with a classic red cast indigo dye on the warp and a brown cotton weft, which enhances its vintage aesthetics.
However, what they really wanted to focus on was the finishing process. BENZAK’s raw (unwashed) fabric has no post-weave finishes but the necessary sanforization process to avoid excessive shrinkage, and it essentially appears as it comes out from the loom, i.e., with an uneven and hairy surface, which can be particularly appealing to denim enthusiasts.

BENZAK’s limited edition jeans are embellished with golden accents, such as gold-plated buttons and a vegetable-tanned leather patch with a gold foil stamp. The selvedge itself is made of three golden threads in the middle of four white threads.
The 10th-anniversary collection comprises 535 men’s jeans distributed among BENZAK’s four fits: slim, straight, tapered, and relaxed. It is globally released today, September 27th, 2023. The Candiani Denim Store in piazza Mentana, 3, Milan, is proudly one of the few retailers worldwide where it is available.
