Paraboot is celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Michael model, and for the Italian market, we are hosting a special event at our Candiani Corner located at Piazza Mentana, 3 in Milan. The event, titled “Some Things Never Change,” is scheduled for October 14th, 2025. This occasion will not only highlight the history of the Michael shoe but also showcase its ongoing relevance and enhance the dialogue between tradition and modernity—a value that we have embraced for many years.

1945-2025: from the original Michael to its renewed success in the 21st century

Paraboot’s Michael model was introduced in 1945, just after the end of World War II, to address the needs of professionals who spent long hours on their feet. This shoe, which combines sturdiness, comfort, and a bold style, quickly became popular among farmers, factory workers, retailers, and others. In Italy, it was referred to as the “engineer shoe” because it was commonly worn by superintendents on construction sites.

The design of Michael is instantly recognizable, featuring a round shape, thick cuff, scalloped welt, and notched rubber sole. Although the shoe has evolved over the decades, its essence has remained unchanged. Made with either Norwegian or Goodyear stitching, the Michael is fully resoleable and perfectly embodies the durability and responsibility for which Paraboot is known.

Despite being around for 80 years, the Michael model shows no signs of aging. It continues to enjoy renewed success worldwide, appealing to various generations and communities who choose to wear it daily. Today, the Michael shoe stands as a timeless and classic wardrobe staple, able to transcend diverse styles and fleeting trends, much like our beloved jeans.

Eight exclusive editions for the eight decades of Michael

To celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Michael shoe, Paraboot reaffirms the uniqueness and legitimacy of its creation. The brand emphasizes that, in an era when fashion continuously seeks meaning, Michael demonstrates that some items—crafted with attention to detail and designed to last—are truly inimitable and timeless.

In honor of this significant milestone, Paraboot has introduced a new series of eight exclusive models, each inspired by the company’s archives. Each model embodies the spirit of a different decade that Michael has traversed.

The anniversary collection, titled “Michael: 80 Years, Over 8 Decades,” was envisioned by Basile Lapray. It features high-quality materials, iconic colors, authentic details, and special finishes, creatively reinterpreting the shoe while respectfully paying homage to the original design.

“Some Things Never Change:” October 14th, Candiani Corner

“Some Things Never Change” originated from a collaboration between Candiani, Paraboot, the showroom Fattore K by Gianni Klemera, and the Bolognese store La Ferramenta. We all share the same values of authenticity, research, and respect for materials, and we are excited that Paraboot has chosen our location for its Italian launch!

The event on October 14th at Candiani Corner, located in Piazza Mentana, will offer a unique experience to present the eight anniversary models of Michael to the Italian market. This event will celebrate the history of the shoe while looking towards the future. Candiani Corner is situated next to the Candiani Denim Store, at the corner of Via San Sisto in Milan.

During the event, you will have the chance to try on the Michael shoes at our Candiani Corner; they’ll remain purchasable exclusively in Italy on the website and in-store at La Ferramenta in Bologna. Additionally, you will receive a complimentary t-shirt celebrating the 80th anniversary!
