UNOTRE Tenuta is a 100% post-industrial recycled denim suit created by Candiani and UNOTRE. This initiative aims to alleviate the daily anxiety that comes with the question: “What should I wear today?” We introduced UNOTRE Tenuta at the Candiani Corner in Piazza Mentana 3 during Milan Design Week 2025. You can purchase it in our store or online at the UNOTRE website for 390 euros.
Why do we need UNOTRE Tenuta?
Since 2006, UNOTRE has been dedicated to helping people fit in by providing ideas, content, products, services, and other means yet to be invented. Initially launched as an online magazine focusing on researching and disseminating new cultural and consumption habits, UNOTRE has evolved into a brand with a loyal community, offering tailored products and services since 2019.
In line with this unique philosophy, UNOTRE Tenuta aims to alleviate the anxiety surrounding outfit choices. This outfit, which includes a shirt and trousers, represents a radical, conscious, and functional response to the social pressure of needing to dress differently yet appropriately. The very name “Tenuta” in Italian sounds like resistance and durability, as a uniform is designed to be practical and withstand even the toughest activities.
To realize this conceptual vision by UNOTRE, they had to use denim, a naturally resistant and durable fabric. And was there a better choice than Candiani’s recycled denim? Our recycling program aligns perfectly with the “less is more” philosophy, emphasizing simplicity and sustainability. UNOTRE Tenuta minimizes the stress of determining what to wear to be fashionable and is designed for longevity. Similarly, using recycled fabric requires fewer raw materials for production, extending the life of the resources it contains.

What makes UNOTRE Tenuta unique?
Proposed as a limited first edition, UNOTRE Tenuta is designed for everyday wear, free from limitations related to seasonality and context. This approach promotes practical, prolonged, and responsible use, going beyond mere raw material-related sustainability and adopting a design-driven approach. Every detail of UNOTRE Tenuta is crafted to enhance your individuality. To extend the life of these garments and counteract damage from wear and tear, we also offer a first complimentary repair service in our store in Piazza Mentana, strengthening your bond with what you wear.
UNOTRE Tenuta is 100% made from post-industrial recycled denim, which utilizes fibers that would otherwise be lost during the production process, eliminating the exploitation of virgin raw materials. The fabric undergoes an innovative finishing technique that uses foam to play with color saturation, resulting in a bright, unconventional medium indigo shade with a red undertone, which ensures that recycled denim maintains the aesthetics of premium fabrics. Additionally, we substitute the traditional polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) sizing with a vegetable-based, biodegradable, and non-toxic agent. This change not only fixes the color and reinforces the thread but also ensures a microplastic-free dyeing process.
The design of UNOTRE Tenuta draws inspiration from traditional workwear, which is evident not only in the use of denim but also in various functional details. It features a MOLLE (Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment) system, which is a modular transport system primarily used in military contexts but also practical in everyday situations. This system consists of durable nylon straps arranged in 14 rows according to MOLLE specifications, allowing you to attach tools and equipment required by your profession or personal interests.
To further personalize your UNOTRE Tenuta, we encourage you to add your own patches to the outfit, with some amazing options available on the brand’s website. The use of embroidered patches, which serve aesthetic and distinctive purposes, has ancient roots. In the military, patches became popular in the twentieth century to signify ranks, units, and specializations, while their use dates back to the Napoleonic period. Scouts have also incorporated patches since their establishment in 1907 to recognize achievements and skills.

Take care of your UNOTRE Tenuta the right way
UNOTRE Tenuta represents the ideal fusion of ethics and aesthetics, utilizing the best practices for material production and design development. Since the outfit is made with raw fabric, it gradually fades with use, reflecting your personal history and habits. This allows you to own something truly unique that becomes more beautiful through wear. For this reason, we recommend washing your UNOTRE Tenuta items as infrequently as possible. When you do wash them, always do so by hand, inside out, and in cold water. Additionally, we suggest washing your shirt and trousers together to help maintain a uniform color.
Keep on keeping it on.
