Wool-blended denim is a standout in our FW26-27 jeans collection. Offered in three colors, these fabrics blend the classic look of denim with the luxurious softness of Merino wool from Woolmark. You can check them out both in-store and online.
Why blend wool in denim?
Denim has long been crafted only from cotton yarns, typically dyed indigo in the warp while keeping the natural cotton color in the weft. However, recent advancements in textile technology are allowing manufacturers to integrate alternative natural fibers into denim production. This innovation introduces the benefits of wool without compromising the classic look of traditional denim.
Blending wool into denim offers several distinct advantages:
- Thermoregulation: By incorporating wool in the weft yarns, the wool sits on the inner side of the fabric. This design enhances warmth during colder seasons and cushions the initial chill when wearing conventional jeans.
- Moisture management: Wool effectively wicks moisture away from your skin while drying swiftly, making it a practical choice for everyday wear.
- Stain and odor resistance: Wool’s unique surface properties allow it to repel dirt and liquid stains more efficiently than other fibers. Additionally, wool is naturally resistant to odors.
- Elasticity and wrinkle recovery: Wool offers greater flexibility than cotton, allowing the fabric to stretch gently and return to its original shape. It’s also highly effective at recovering from wrinkles and creases, ensuring a polished appearance.

Our wool-blended denim fabrics blend 35% wool and 65% cotton, using a 2x1 construction with two warp threads for every weft thread. This mix features Woolmark’s premium Merino wool in the weft, while the dyed warp uses regenerative cotton that’s certified by regenagri®.
Regenerative cotton is cultivated through various methods tailored to the specific soil, biology, and climate of each region. The main objective is to enhance soil health, restore natural processes, and bring balance back to ecosystems. This sustainable approach not only boosts biodiversity above and below the soil but also helps farmers improve profitability, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and actively combat climate change. In doing so, it enhances the cycle of essential elements such as hydrogen, carbon, and nutrients.

About Woolmark’s Merino wool
Merino wool is a remarkable natural fiber known for its unique structure that delivers exceptional softness, breathability, durability, and versatility. It beautifully combines luxury, comfort, and functionality.
Here are some key features of Merino wool:
- Eco-friendly: As a renewable and biodegradable fiber, Merino wool comes from Australian sheep, which produce a new fleece every year. When it’s no longer needed, it naturally decomposes back into the soil, enriching it with nutrients.
- Flexible and wrinkle-resistant: The fibers of Merino wool are coiled like springs, allowing them to regain their shape after bending, which means less fussing with creases in your clothing.
- Soft and comfortable: Merino wool fibers are incredibly fine, making them soft against the skin. They stretch with your movements and return to their original form, providing comfort.
- Breathable: This fiber effectively manages moisture vapor, helping to regulate your body’s microclimate by absorbing moisture and releasing it into the air.
- Odor- and stain-resistant: Thanks to its moisture-managing properties, Merino wool can absorb odor molecules, reducing the likelihood of unwanted odors. This feature means you stay fresher for longer, even during active use.
- Temperature regulation: Merino wool naturally adapts to your body temperature, keeping you warm in cold conditions and cooler in hot ones.
