Rigid denim vs stretch denim

A significant distinction in the denim world concerns the preference for rigid fabrics versus stretch fabrics. Traditional denim is rigid, made entirely from cotton, which ensures durability, comfort, and an acceptable price point.

However, during the fashion boom of the 1970s and 1980s, there was a growing demand for more feminine, form-fitting, and comfortable jeans. To meet this demand, elastane was introduced in the industry, making the fabric elastic and allowing for fits that enhance the body’s shape while still preserving the denim aesthetic and comfort associated with it.

The introduction of stretch denim marked the beginning of the premium denim industry, which transformed jeans from a simple commodity into a luxury, stylish item. This transformation is highlighted by Adriano Goldschmied, usually referred to as the father of premium denim. Los Angeles is regarded as the birthplace of this new denim concept, and we take pride in the fact that the premium denim industry there was built on our fabrics, which seamlessly blend superior elastic performance with authentic aesthetics.

Comfort- vs super-stretch denim

Not all stretch denim fabrics are the same; they vary in elasticity. It’s also important to remember that cotton is slightly elastic, though much less so than synthetic fibers.

Comfort-stretch fabrics typically contain about 20% elasticity—more than double the natural level found in cotton. As the name suggests, comfort-stretch denim provides exceptional comfort, freedom of movement, and a soft feel. This makes it ideal for slim fits, as well as for regular and wide-leg styles that aim to offer greater comfort compared to rigid jeans from the very start. That’s why these fabrics are commonly used to create men’s clothing as well.

Stretch fabrics typically have an elasticity of around 30%. Additionally, there are power or super-stretch fabrics that are ideal for the tightest styles, such as skinny jeans, which is why they are mainly used in women’s fits.

This is achieved through an exclusive blend of two premium-quality materials: regenerative Blue Seed cotton from Spain and LYCRA® EcoMade.

Our new Soft Core fabric is now available in a customizable, fitted option that’s all about you. We’ve crafted this fit to be a perfect blend of the classic regular and slim jeans, slightly tapering toward the hem for a glove-like fit. This means you can fully enjoy the incredible softness and resilience of our fabric. With a polished and modern look, these fitted jeans are the ideal foundation for any outfit, making them versatile enough for any occasion while keeping you looking refined all day long.

Our new Soft Core jeans come in three stunning washes—rinsed, dark worn-in, and light-vintage—to match every style preference. This approach to our customizable jeans is a first for us, and we’re confident that Soft Core is the perfect fabric choice with its sleek appearance, naturally soft and luxurious feel, and impressive durability. 

Our rinsed, i.e., dark-washed, jeans showcase a rich, deep color, achieved by simply rinsing away excess dye. The dark, worn-in wash is reminiscent of medium-washed denim and strikes a lovely balance between the authentic denim color and the beloved worn-in look. Meanwhile, the light-washed jeans offer a beautifully faded texture and vintage vibe, making them the softest option in our collection.

While we provide a selection of standard sizes, you can elevate your jeans by choosing your ideal hem length and hardware options. Our hardware selection features buttons and rivets in refined finishes like gold, silver, copper, black, and white, as well as our exclusive jewel buttons by Nove25.

Personalization is key, and we offer customized back patches in cocoon, natural, dark brown, indigo, or black. Whether you opt for a name or a unique drawing, we’ll laser-engrave it for a special touch. Plus, you can have your initials embroidered in a color of your choice, making these jeans truly your own.
