The new BENZAK x Candiani Limited Edition Selvedge combines Italian denim heritage and Dutch design to recover pre-consumer discarded fabrics, avoid waste, and value sustainability and upcycling. The capsule debuted on November 9th and 10th at the Candiani Denim Store in Milan, where Lennaert Nijgh, BENZAK’s founder, also took part in a workshop to customize his garments.

BENZAK Denim Developers is an Amsterdam-based denim and lifestyle brand founded in 2013. BENZAK strongly focuses on creating high-quality and made-to-last garments. Craftsmanship and timeless styles are prioritized to transcend trends and seasons with simplicity, comfortability, and utilitarian design. In September 2023, the brand celebrated its ten-year anniversary with a special selvedge collection made with a fabric we designed together for the occasion.

As explained by Lennaert Nijgh, the new capsule was born when Alberto Candiani, President of Candiani Denim, approached him with some surplus selvedge fabrics of our Candiani RISERVA line and asked to produce some new items to show how pre-consumer discarded textiles can be reused and recovered in an alternative way and bring those fabrics to final consumers. A specific label showcasing both our and BENZAK’s logos was designed to identify the limited edition. All the garments can be customized in our micro-factory in piazza Mentana, 3, Milan, by choosing your favorite design in our library.
The capsule includes one pair of chino pants, two military overshirts, and three jackets, one of them developed in collaboration with the Dutch brand Bonne Suits. The BC-03 STRAIGHT CHINO follows the current trend, moving towards straight silhouettes. The BWS-03 MILITARY OVERSHIRT was inspired by a 60s military shirt style and has a simple and utilitarian design. It is equipped with two large chest pockets with rectangular flaps and two handwarmer pockets and is available in two different fabrics. The BONNE X BENZAK JACKET 01 is a remake of the garment released by the two Amsterdam brands not long before our limited edition was born. This fit is a new rendition of the jacket of the iconic Bonne Suits workwear suit and, in the Limited Edition Selvedge, is a mix-‘n-match of two fabrics. The BDJ-T2 TYPE II JACKET, available in two different but similar fabrics, was inspired by the Levi’s® 507XX jacket, also known as the type 2 – or II – produced from 1953 until 1962. It is a boxy fit featuring two chest pockets with flaps.
